An easy way to learn Excel - This training package consists of several lessons on how to make the most out of MS Excel. I personally have been using Excels basic functions (fomulae, charts and limited macros) for many years, and was hoping to learn a little more here. Unfortunatly, while this package is great for beginners, it caters little for even slightly more advanced users. If you want to spare yourself the cost and time it takes to do a basic course at college this is worth a go, but if you want to learn anything but the basics, try something else!

Good enough - Thoguh the jury is still out as to how good Excel 2007 is itself, I found this how-to software really useful. It certainly made working your way through the VERY different interface of 2007 much more clear, and answered many question, built up since I started using 07. If you are struggling with Excel, or just need to get to best out of it, this is defintaly the product for you.
Missed opportunity due to budget - Although this is certainly better due to its greater depth than the guide to using Vista, the content of this link to a training website lets it down. The active demonstrations are useful- but they take an age to load (obviously they re not using the newly touted ~MS Silverlight to stream). When Microsoft launched the new ribbon design for Office they took a big leap into the future. It WAS really scary to start with- but for the most part I m getting to used to it and am really impressed with the idea. I don t use excel much from a design point of view at present- it was useful for plotting scientific graphs. Mostly I keep tabs on my finances at home and we have a pretty colour changing spreadsheet at work to track letters coming in.I feel that this presents too much too quickly for a beginner and lack detail for a power user. As I once spotted our previous manager adding up totals and working out percentages on a calculator before entering the figures into excel, I can appreciate that some people have a long way to go. Frankly I don t see that I would need to prove myself with the exam- the step by step book would be better for getting up to speed. Nevertheless it may prove useful for some- I just think more demos would have improved it- and the quizes are useless.
A product for absolute beginners - This software is part of Microsoft e-learning courses. Idea is to provide a simple and effective way for you to learn at your own pace. This self-paced learning environment includes a variety of multimedia tools such as audio, video, simulation, animation etc and assessments.Firstly, I must point out I use excel at work, so from my perspective it was very basic. This software is ideal for beginners or someone new to excel. I can see this type of software kept at colleges, schools etc, where it would very handy. I gave it to my mother and she seemed to think it was good, the interface is easy and simple to use. The course material she liked. As a complete novice to excel, she became familiar with environment and how to run spreadsheets, graphs etc. She gave it a thumbs up.personally, I would say if you know your way around excel already, then this software may not be for you. If your an absolute beginner and hate reading books, then dive in and buy it. The price is similar to a book. The online course matterial is good and with the 12 months of support you can t really go wrong.About the exam, in all honesty I m not sure a prospective employer would look at whether you have completed the excel exam or not. Also the course does not cover things like complex number functions and bode plots etc. So, if you are looking for excel to help solve more mathematically complex problems, this product is not for you.
